HUTSON DEKEYSER

Working with architects, interior designers, and private clients, Hutson DeKeyser develops botanical installations from initial consultation to specimen and vessel sourcing, installation, and ongoing care.

Each living installation is tailored to the architecture, natural light, scale, and materiality of
its setting.

Each living installation is tailored to the architecture, natural light, scale, and materiality of its setting.

Projects may begin in the planning stages of a new build or renovation, during construction, or within an existing space. Each consultation considers the project stage, design intent, and requirements of the living installation — identifying where and how botanical compositions can thrive within the design.

Following the consultation, Hutson DeKeyser prepares a tailored proposal outlining specimen and vessel recommendations, installation approach, care plan, scope, and fees.

The Studio

Founded and led by Valerie DeKeyser and Traci Hutson, Hutson DeKeyser brings together interior design, sculptural plant specimens, artist-made and curated vessels, and decades of Austin plant-business experience.

Valerie’s background spans Los Angeles residential and commercial interiors, sculptural lighting, vessel design, and visual storytelling, with lighting shown at Salone del Mobile and work sold through galleries, boutiques, and design showrooms in the U.S. and abroad.

Traci anchors the studio’s operational foundation, with experience across nursery management, plant-and-vessel sourcing, installation and care coordination. Her singular ceramic practice brings an artist’s rigor and perspective to the work as a whole.

Also integral is Jon Hutson, an experienced Austin horticulturist whose sourcing channels, greenhouse infrastructure, and plant expertise strengthen each installation from specimen selection through long-term care.
