Each living installation begins with the space – its architecture, natural light, scale, and materiality.

Following the consultation, Hutson DeKeyser prepares a tailored proposal outlining specimen and vessel recommendations, installation approach, care plan, scope, and fees.

The Studio

Founded and led by Valerie DeKeyser and Traci Hutson, Hutson DeKeyser brings together design, sculptural plant specimens, artist-made and curated vessels, and decades of horticultural experience in Austin.

Valerie’s background spans residential and commercial interiors in Los Angeles, sculptural lighting, vessel design, and visual storytelling. Her lighting has been shown at Salone del Mobile, with work sold through galleries, boutiques, and design showrooms in the U.S. and abroad.

Traci brings extensive experience in nursery operations, plant and vessel sourcing, installation, and care coordination. Her ceramic practice brings an artist’s understanding of material, form, and vessel to the studio.

Jon Hutson, an experienced Austin horticulturist, brings plant expertise, sourcing relationships, and greenhouse infrastructure to each installation from specimen selection through long-term care.
